Technically, the UGH is silent in though and not just the GH. If the O was silent in people, it would be pronounced pep-le, and it’s not (say pee-oh-ple repeatedly with an escalating speed starting slowly). If the T in ballet was silent, it would be pronounced ball; there is no accent on the e. If the I in business was silent, it would be pronounced bus-ness. It’s bus-uh-ness; just say it like I told you to with ‘people’.
